Tip: A climbing tour at the Peter Kofler via ferrata (fixed-rope route) in Stafflach
Thanks to its attractive location, the Wipptal has always been a destination favoured by travellers. In the early days, it was a journey to transport goods, and then around 1800, grand tour travellers like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe began to traverse the valley. Eventually, with the advent of the Brenner railway in 1900, the summer visitors started to come to the unspoilt side valleys and the alpinists to the Brenner Mountains.
